A little about us

Woody:  Over 30 years ago during college, I became a lifeguard and started teaching swim lessons. I am very patient and gain the trust of my students quickly. Not only do I teach the fundamentals needed for a strong stroke, but the importance of water safety.  I challenge my students while providing a safety net that allows them to realize their strengths. My personal goal is to help as many people as I can learn to enjoy the water, and become confident swimmers.

I have recently added some very talented co-teachers to help me reach my goal. Co-teacher:  Cameron Wilson, Rosie Fitzsimmons, Gustavo Artman.  All of my co-teachers are excellent trainers. They are wonderful with both children and adults, as well as patient and encouraging. Even though they are experienced swim teachers, I continue to work with them often so all our students can benefit from our combined years of
experience and skills.

Our 1-on-1 lesson format allows us to focus on each student’s individual needs which helps you progress quickly.  Our format also allows us to identify what strokes work best for you and tailor your classes so you can reach your goal.
We teach all swim strokes and all levels from Beginners to Advanced techniques. We specialize in Adults, Seniors, and Children above 5.

We begin teaching children at the age of 5 because by this time most children have developed good muscle control, strength, and the body awareness needed to make good progress.  In my experience, we can make quicker progress which makes the classes more economical.
(If however, your child is exposed to bodies of water such as pools or lakes, I do recommend you seek lessons at an earlier age.)

Our pool has a deep end so we can help our clients overcome their fear of the deep water. If this is your concern, we will address the strength and efficiency of your stroke first. Then we will work on multiple techniques that are effective in deep water so you can become more confident when water is over your head.

I also work with people who have had injuries or physical limitations that require stroke adjustments in order to continue swimming. I personally have suffered a serious back injury in my late 20’s and swimming was a huge part of my recovery.

We also teach snorkeling techniques as well, in order to help you prepare for ocean swimming or an upcoming vacation.
