We are a non-profit nursery school in the unique Village Homes neighborhood of West Davis (www.villagehomesdavis.org). We were started in 1984 by a group of Village Homes parents, who envisioned and designed a school environment that would blend the best parts of family day care centers with larger nursery school settings.

We believe that preschool children learn best through play, and we organize our classroom and our curriculum around this belief.

Our staff is trained to encourage children to express their thoughts and feelings, to work within their peer group to come up with activities and to resolve conflict, and to exercise self-help skills by learning to dress themselves, feed themselves, and to recognize and articulate their needs.

A play-based philosophy does not disregard academics, but it uses the natural exploration of imagination to weave academics, self-help skills, and social skills together. The confidence that children gain by mastering these skills helps them to build a foundation for future education throughout their lives.
