Project R.I.D.E. Inc., a nonprofit institution, provides therapeutic recreational horseback riding instruction to over 500 children and adults with special needs.
Project R.I.D.E. currently serves over 500 students with disabilities from Elk Grove, Sacramento, and even as far away as Stockton and the Delta. Our youngest students are 3 and our oldest are in their 90s.
If you know someone with almost any special need or disability who would like to receive the benefits of our program, please contact us and we will place them on our waiting list. Please note that although we have no age limit, we do have a weight limit of 175lbs. out of consideration for rider and volunteer safety. Scheduling flexibility is the number one determinant of being removed from our wait list and beginning lessons – so if you have open availability or some room in your schedule please do not be discouraged by our waiting list.
All of our students have a medically diagnosed physical or intellectual special need or disability. Below is a partial list of the disabilities our current students possess; if you don`t see your disability on this list, please call us to find out if you are eligible.
