Yu Xin was born in Shanghai, China where he received his early training from the age of ten from the Beijing Dance Academy . He then joined the Shanghai Ballet where he danced for five years as a Principal Dancer. In 1991 he moved to the U.S. when he was invited to join the Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle, Washington. He was a Soloist with the company until 1996 when he joined the American Ballet Theatre in NYC where he stayed for the next 6 years. In over 16 years of professional company experience he performed in classical ballets such as “Swan Lake”, “Don Quixote? Coppelia”, “Cinderella”, “Nutcracker”, “Romeo and Juliet” and “La Bayadere”and in Balanchine’s “Agon”, “Theme and Variations”, “Who Cares” and “Rubies.”

Yu Xin has performed around the world in places such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, France, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Yu Xin has taught at Ballet Tech School (Elliot Feld) , Peridance Center, and Ballet Academy East in NYC, Eglevsky Ballet School in Long Island, Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance in CT, master classes for CW Post University , and Ballet Master and Guest Teacher for the Ballet San Jose School and Ballet Company .Yu Xin was invited teaching Ballet at Stanford University in 2009
