Our mission at Portside Montessori is to provide a warm, caring, high quality education and enjoyable enviroment for children to develop through the guidance of qualified and trained staff and proving afforadable childcare for the City of West Sacramento and surrounding areas.

The Montessori classroom is divided into six areas of learning: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, Cultural (History, Science, Geography) and creative subject (art, music, drama). These materials are placed on low shelves for the child to choose freely.

Children are naturally drawn to what they want to work on with guidance from the teachers.

These materials have built in “control of error” so the child can check their own work as well as at there own pace. These materials offer the children to see abstract information in a concrete way to help understand what they are working on.
