Billy Kheel creates soft sculptures and wall hangings out of felt and thread. In terms of artistic process and intent, his strategy plays with the concepts of masculine vs. feminine and folk vs. academic. No matter the subject of a particular series, his work consistently demonstrates warmth and humor. Kheel has created a number of projects over the course of his artistic career that are excellent for workshops and classes for students with a range of skill levels. The creative expression and uniqueness of art and the tactile mindfulness of crafting are combined in these projects. Kheel has conducted one-night workshops with individuals of all ages while serving as a long-term visiting artist at a school.
