Different age students need to be taught differently. You wouldn’t teach a 5 year old the same way you would teach a 15 year old in school and learning to sing is no different. Below I have listed the teaching methodology I use for different age students and what I have found to be effective over my years of teaching singing.
For younger students I like to make the lessons fun and exciting while still finding a focus and definite purpose in the lesson. Young students should enjoy the lessons and music and not find it to be chore.
As any parent knows getting teenager to focus weekly can be a difficult task. I make a point of being a strong leader and mentor with teenage students to keep them on a successful path. However there can be a difference between the more motivated singers and those who are just singing for fun. Either way teenage students get the most out of lessons.
