The Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church participates in the Northern California Church League basketball league. Â The participation is an outreach to offer local youth, second grade through high school, the opportunity to participate in a sports league focused on teamwork, fun, fair play, fellowship, and good sportsmanship. Instructional league is offered for children ages five to seven. Â Church and/or Sunday School attendance is a league requirement.
The purpose of the SJUMC Basketball Program is to provide the children of members of the SJUMC and of the Christian Church community the opportunity to expand their cultural/religious awareness and to develop self-esteem through organized sports.
