Shine With Purpose presents the annual “Loomis Day Before Thanksgiving” Parade! This is a great family fun event and things to do on Thanksgiving Day that benefits the many kids in need in the community around the Sacramento area. This year, they are also holding a small vendor fair near a Pictures with Santa booth, so bring those kiddos, and let’s have some holiday and get this season started right!
Throwing candy is not permitted, but walkers in the parade may hand out candy along the parade route. All parade entries must clean up their trash and animal droppings before, during, and after the parade. Bring a toy donation!

Bring your kids and the whole family to burn off some calories before the feast on Thanksgiving Day and join the kid-friendly event Run to Feed the Hungry in Sacramento. It is the largest Thanksgiving Day fun run in the country. This Thanksgiving tradition benefits Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, meaning your participation will help fight hunger in our community. There will be several live bands throughout the course on race day.
The event features a loop course that starts on J Street just west of the entrance to the Sacramento State campus and runs through the beautiful tree-lined streets of East Sacramento. Participants have the option to select chip timing and start up front in the timed runner corral. In order to receive an official result and be eligible for overall and age group awards, you must select the timed runner option that includes a timing chip on your bib.

Come to Folsom Lion’s Park/Rodeo Park on Thanksgiving morning for a 5k run/walk or a 10k run. Bring your kids to some early morning family-friendly activity fun run along with the locals to kick off the Thanksgiving celebration. The family-friendly activity fun run benefits the Twin Lakes Food Bank, a faith-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to share God’s love by mobilizing the community to provide food and support to those in need in our community.
Folsom Turkey Trot aims to encourage youth participation, hoping that the experience will teach kids that it is not about winning the race but doing their best to complete a set goal. A portion of the proceeds will support the Twin Lakes Food Bank and the “Not in Our Town/Not in Our School” youth scholarship program.
