Families will also enjoy the Kids Expo California, an event created by kids, for kids! The event will be held at Cal Expo from April 8-9. The expo was planned by a council of students and aims to bring entertainment, shopping, special appearances, and hands-on fun to area youngsters.

Folsom State Recreation area offers easy hikes for all fitness levels. The Oaks Nature Trail is perfect for beginners. This nature trail is less than a mile long and is dotted with trees, lakes, creeks, and wildlife.
Also close to home is Rancho Seco Recreational Park which offers scenic hiking for all ages. The park’s Howard Ranch Trail is an easy three-and-a-half-mile trail perfect for gazing on blooming April wildflowers.
Cosumnes River Preserve is also worth a visit. The park is just south of Elk Grove and offers families easy hiking on well-maintained nature trails.
