One of the best things to do on a rainy day is visiting the California Railroad Museum located in Old Sacramento. You and your family can climb all over the trains and learn about the history of train travel. When you are done, you can take a walk through Old Sac. The kids will love walking through the candy stores with barrels of candy where they offer free samples. The best place to eat with kids on a rainy day in this area is at Luis’s Jr’s Mexican Restaurant. This family-owned restaurant is known for its tacos, their enchiladas, and their homemade pork and rice soup. The seating is all indoors so it’s fine for a rainy day. Not to mention, Luis’s Jr’s Restaurant will validate your parking for $5 and it’s good for either of the Old Sacramento garages. Art Beast is an art studio in midtown where kids can create many different types of art using a variety of different mediums.

Climbaroo has a little cafe next to the indoor play area where you can buy simple foods like hot dogs and pizza and some simple snacks. Nearby, The Waffle Experience and Pete’s Restaurant and Brewhouse are two places that you can go to grab a bite to eat after your kids are done playing. The Waffle Experience is known for their waffles and their awesome breakfasts, including their Benedict Arnold. Pete’s has a variety of beers on tap and is known for their pizza, their Pete’s Deluxe Burger, and their buffalo wings.
