Berry Island U-pick farm is well-known throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. They grow the sweetest, best-tasting organic strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, boysenberries, olallieberries, and fresh specialty produce. Their picking season starts in April and ends in November. The farm is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon. No reservations are needed. It’s first come, first serve only!
They only accept cash, and closed-toe shoes are required. No pets allowed!

This small family-operated U-pick-only local farm in beautiful Gilroy sells freshly picked fruits and vegetables. They are proud of the fact that they do not use any spray of any kind, organic or inorganic, to grow their crops. They grow crops such as cherries, strawberries, blackberries, plums/pluots, Watermelons, Cantaloupes, Corn, and string beans. Every year, Gilroy Upick kicks off the San Jose county cherry season with its early ripening varieties starting in early May, around 25 days ahead of bing cherries.
Visitors cannot climb ladders, trees, tractors, or other farm implements. No pets are allowed in the orchard. Please check their website for current availability and hours before coming.

Here at the Lazy K Ranch, they have over 1000 cherry trees, including bings, brooks, and vans (dark red sweet cherries), all organic use approved sprays only, for your picking enjoyment. Bring your whole family and pick your own beautiful, juicy, ripe cherries. Kids can easily reach low trees. They will also enjoy the ranch grounds and see their horses and goats too!
This local farm near San Jose has a large lawn area for picnics and plenty of room for play. Before coming, check their website for unexpected closures or changes in hours.

Bacchini’s Fruit Tree is a family-operated Picked and U-Pick fruit stand. Each year, they are open during May and June to offer fresh fruits grown in their orchard. All U-Pick will be done by reservation to control the population inside the orchard. As you enter, you may purchase one or more various-sized boxes to pick and take home (small, medium, large). Each box is priced by the amount the container will hold. You may purchase additional boxes if you need them.
It is not uncommon for it to be closed on a Monday or Tuesday following a busy/crowded picking weekend since more fruit needs to ripen before reopening. Check their website for live updates!

This local organic farm is located just around the corner from scenic Sunset State Beach. Head to Crystal Bay Farm for sweet strawberries in the spring and raspberries in June or July. Pease Ranch is exclusively a u-pick farm that offers blackberries, loganberries, boysenberries, and olallieberries. You may even see some chickens or a tortoise roaming the grounds. Bring cash, as they don’t accept credit cards.
Fresh fruit ripens every day and cannot control nature, so they will open when they have ripe fruit, and each day, they will close when the ripe fruit has been picked out. It is always best to call first or check their website for operating hours.

Skyline Chestnuts opens to the public when the ripe chestnuts fall from the trees, typically in early October. The season lasts from 5 to 6 weeks. Usually, the crop is at its peak, and the chestnuts are easiest to gather around the third weekend of the harvest. When the chestnuts have all been gathered, they close in mid to late November.
The orchard is open for fruit picking from Wednesday through Sunday, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. It’s best to arrive earlier in the day. The orchard can get picked over by late afternoon, especially on Sundays. You can find more specific dates just before they open each year by checking their website.

Typically, between May and September, you can pick the organic strawberries every Saturday and Sunday through the summer from 10 am to 5 pm. Depending on the season, you might also choose your juicy Olallieberries or try some of the farm’s other unique fruits, such as Tayberries and Loganberries. Combining organic farming practices with union labor is why Swanton Berry Farm produces fruits, jams, and baked goods beyond comparison.
Get the provided U-Pick boxes from inside the farmstand and walk down the dirt road out front (marked by U-Pick signs), which leads to the strawberry fields. Please adhere to any ‘NO PICKING HERE’ signs and pick only RED, FULLY RIPE strawberries. Return to the farmstand to weigh and pay.

The U-Pick season usually runs from June through July or August, depending on the rain and weather.
