At Steve & Kate’s Camp, they put kids in charge. When you trust kids, they trust themselves. For 43 years, they’ve let kids control their learning experience. As they try, fail, and learn on their own, they learn to trust their judgment and tackle the challenges of an ever-changing world with creativity and confidence. Their job is to get out of their way, cheerlead creative risks, and provide just enough guidance to ensure nobody does anything senseless.
Campers will design their day in real time by choosing from various activities. Campers ramp up and wind down with recreational choices in the early morning and late afternoon. For most of the day, children choose from the activities listed. While they can’t say precisely what the day will look like, one thing is sure: The campers are in control. Parents of wonderful twin boys founded Sweet Arts. They understand the importance of including time to do art activities with kids. It’s been said that creating art allows children to work through their feelings and emotions and is also a source of beauty and expression. They hope to bring joy and confidence to your children by providing a space that nurtures the creativity of all backgrounds, skill levels, and learning capabilities.
This spring break, they welcome kids to create with them, try something new, and, most of all, have fun. There is also an outdoor time at Helen Wills Playground, weather permitting. It is recommended to wear socks during playtime. Campers must pack a water bottle, a lunch, and some snacks, or they can purchase snacks from their mini snack bar. Learn more about the camp here.

Camps at The Butterfly Joint are for children from kindergarten and up, with a limit of 12 students per camp. The woodworkers will make a handsome card box for their favorite sports cards, Pokémon, and more, and they even get to personalize it with their in-house laser engraver. Along with woodworking skills, they also focus on teaching children manners, personal and community responsibility, social justice, and helping parents reinforce productive social and emotional behaviors for their kids.
The Butterfly Joint takes full advantage of the natural beauty surrounding the shop, so recesses are held at Sutro Heights Park, Golden Gate Park, or Ocean Beach. Campers must bring their lunch and snacks, and they now allow nuts and foods that contain nuts as they eat outdoors and at a distance for snacks and lunch. Due to low interest in aftercare during the last several camp sessions, we will only offer aftercare if a minimum of four children are signed up. Learn more about the camp here.
